Creating Projects Built for Mental Health

Introduction:
May is mental health awareness month. During May, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), joins the national movement to raise awareness about mental health. Each year they fight stigma, provide support, educate the public and advocate for policies that support people with mental illness and their families. This month, we want to shine a light on creating projects built for mental health, and the importance of prioritizing and spreading awareness for a healthy mind.
River Edge Recovery Center: Macon, GA
The River Edge Recovery Center is located in Macon, GA. Serving more than 10,000 Georgians annually, River Edge Behavioral Health is one of the state’s leading resources for mental health and substance use disorder treatments and supports as well as supports for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. 
River Edge’s dedicated, highly-trained staff along with its state-of-the-art prevention, treatment, and support services has made life better for Georgians since 1950.
Our Scope:
The new 48,000 SF River Edge Behavioral Health facility was a true team collaboration between DCO Commercial Floors, Parrish Construction Group, and Azar Walsh Architects. The lodge-like feel was designed to provide a more relaxing environment for the large one-story footprint. Separate wings were created to serve adults and children in the short-term crisis service center. Our team spent a great deal of time and preconstruction effort with our estimations, shop drawings, and layout meetings due to the heavy pattern coordination. Working alongside adjacent finish contractors, we were able to achieve the architect’s design intent to make the space welcoming and comforting.
Advantage Behavioral Health: Athens, GA
Advantage Behavioral Health Systems provides person-centered treatment and recovery support to individuals and families experiencing behavioral health challenges, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and addictive diseases.
They envision a community of collaborative and multidisciplinary partners where everyone is understood a nd accepted without judgement, has access to high quality and sustainable care, and thrives in their life journey.
Our Scope:
DCO Commercial Floors assisted Grahl Construction and E+E Architecture on a 55,000 square foot renovation at Advantage Behavioral Health Recovery center in Athens, GA. DCO installed Tile, VCT, LVP, carpet, and base to help bring in a welcoming environment for all of the patients at the center.
